Christopher Piazza

Hello everyone!  My name is Christopher Piazza and I am from Milford, Connecticut in the United States of America. I started working for Beile training school three years ago in September and am the Head Foreign Teacher Supervisor of Hui Long Guan Center in Beijing, China.

I still remember all the butterflies in my stomach the moment I stepped off the plane three years ago, a new city on the opposite side of the world where I can’t speak the language. But as I walked through the doors of Beile training school’s headquarters I was met with a handshake and a smile. That same day I would put on my Beile training school uniform for the first time and begin observing classes in preparation to start my very own class.

A few weeks later I got to meet my Grade 1 students. One month after that I would receive my two Pre Kindergarten classes. These students and parents would become my new family over those two years at Anli Center before I was offered a supervisor position at a new center in Beijing. Those two years I would be these children’s teacher, and those two years were some of the most rewarding years of my life.

Now I sit at my new desk at the start of my third year with Beile training school. It’s a new center with new children, but the love and kindness I have received from the families of my students has been amazing. It still makes me smile when I see the younger students’ parents remind their children to “listen to 外叔叔Wai Shu Shu, foreign Uncle. They always nod in agreement and go to class knowing they aren’t entering a classroom, but are entering our small slice of an American home.

Now three years later I can say that my decision to come to Beijing has been one of the best decisions I have made.  The friends I have made, the experiences I’ve had, and the children and families I have been blessed to share my language with can never be replaced and will always hold a special place in my heart.
